‘Quarry of the Year’ Award for Patrick Bradley Limited
Patrick Bradley Limited’s Craigall Quarry near Kilrea has been recognised at the 2016 Plant & Civil Engineer’s ‘Plant, Construction & Quarry’ Awards.
The company was presented with the much coveted ‘Quarry of the Year’ award, sponsored by Terex-Finlay & Ormonde Machinery, at a glittering ceremony at the Ramada Hotel in Belfast.
The awards judges said they were impressed with the company’s approach to all aspects of its activities, pointing to its investment and commitment to achieving zero harm, to its reducing its environmental impact, and to its “excellent communication with the local community and its neighbours and the production of quality products.”
Patrick Bradley Limited, which operates its own production plant for the manufacture of blocks and bricks at Craigall Quarry, have been supplying and laying Asphalt and Bitmac for many years on public carriageways, driveways, yards and car parks.
Its products range from Asphalt Concretes, Hot Rolled Asphalts, Porous Asphalts and Stone Mastic Asphalts, all manufactured to the highest possible standards which are continually monitored and improved through its accredited quality management system.
“We also supply large feature basalt stones. These are available in various shapes and sizes suitable for all garden and landscaping needs. With this, we were very proud to have been the supplier for the Giant’s Causeway Visitor Centre.”
The quarry also promotes biodiversity as much as possible. For example, it keeps a face of compacted dust set aside for migrating sand martins who return each year to nest. It has also adapted its face blasting plan to allow resident peregrine falcons to nest without disturbance. In addition, there is a sizeable population of Irish hares that reside in the quarry and the company assist them by creating a suitable environment for them using areas of oversized rock.
Civil Engineering projects are also part of both the company’s public and private contracts, being involved in forms of enabling works which include trenching, drainage, installation of all types of services including water, sewerage, electricity, gas and communications.
With 14 separate categories, the annual ‘Plant, Construction & Quarry’ awards, organised by the Hillsborough based publishers of Plant & Civil Engineer magazine, 4SM (NI) Ltd., is regarded as the premier event in the Plant, Construction and Quarry calendar, attracting entries, support and sponsorship from all the leading players in the industry.
